RATS IN THE GARDEN

Rat Extermination

Rats and Mice are a major problem throughout Ipswich and Suffolk. Their presence can instantly destroy a companies reputation. Rodents, in particular Rats, have the power to transmit numerous diseases and infections such as Salmonella, caused by bacteria of the salmonella group and is one of the most widespread of animal borne diseases, others include Leptospirosis (Weil's Disease) which is thought to be carried by around 50-70% of rats and may result in the loss of human life. Parasites carried and transmitted by rodents also include mites, fleas, tapeworms and ringworm.

When faced with an infestation of Rats it is always advised to deal with the situation immediately as the problem can soon spiral out of control, due to the rodents reproduction speed. Dealing with the infestation at first sight can also save money in the long run. If you suspect Rats in the loft or attic space it is paramount that the matter is taken care of quickly, as rats will often chew through electrical wiring and in some cases this can lead to the risk of fire. Rats teeth never stop growing, in fact they grow faster than a human finger nail, they chew to keep there teeth from growing out of control and to keep them razor sharp.

Rat Control is extremely important as well as the vast array of diseases they carry the amount of damage they can caused can be colossal. An example of this is one of our clients had called on us to investigate into the disappearance of some of his birds that he kept in an aviary in his garden. The aviary sat on 12 inches of concrete. On further inspection it was found that rats had burrowed through the concrete, Chewed through into the aviary and had eaten some of the birds causing over £1300 of damage. This was an extreme case and a baiting and trapping program was implemented.

Some people prefer to try a do it yourself approach to Pest Control. This can sometimes be effective but can in certain cases can cost more than calling in the professionals. Another point to consider is that the local diy store will only sell ameture use products and many of these will have little if no effect compared to the armoury of poisons and pesticides that we carry. Calls from clients who have given it a go are not uncommon, after splashing out good money at the local hardware store only to make matters worst. If in doubt please give us a call and we'll point you in the right direction.

If your ever unlucky enough to find a trapped or cornered Rat in your house we have on board Ipswich's best Rat catcher! She is our rat catching dog and below you can see some pictures of her at work.

If you have an infestation of Rats within the home or garden and you would like advice or would like to make an appointment then please contact us on 01473 206661 or please use our enquiry form.

Our bait stations can carry both poison and traps and are locked for the safety of children and pets.

MOLE CATCHER

We are professional Mole catchers in Suffolk. Moles are notoriously difficult to eliminate, most people are aware of the damage they cause, but have never seen one. Damage taking only a short period of time can lead to unsightly earth mounds, which can be hazardous. Degeneration of gardens and pasture land is common.

We aim to provide a fast and friendly service of mole control using traditional methods. We use traps to gain fast results, once a site survey has been carried out.We have been ask before to do a catch and release on moles but as moles need to consume about 70% of there body weight in food every day, their ability to survive for any amount of time if captured alive is limited. So to catch a mole alive in a trap would require the trap to be inspected at very regular intervals totally impractical in reality.

If you did catch one, what would you do with it? Releasing into another moles territory would cause fighting and unnecessary suffering; releasing where there is no existing tunnel system would put excessive pressure on the Mole to find enough food to survive. In our opinion the "humane" trapping is anything but.

Many people are confused with conflicting advice on mole control and rumours of how to best deal with moles. Those that have tried realise home remedies do not work, giving little or no result. Specialist mole control is a continuous process that requires the right knowledge and time. We offer that specialist knowledge and will be happy to make a site visit.
